Wednesday night, Grandma and Grandpa got back from the MTC around 6:30. We had dinner all ready for them. Early that week we had discussed a whole bunch of dinner options. Sarah suggested funeral potatoes, since it was kind of like a funeral. Although this is nothing like a funeral (silly Sarah!) we all loved the idea of funeral potatoes. A good old Utah Mormon dinner!! We had honey baked ham, funeral potatoes, green jello, corn on the cob, and Lion house rolls with strawberry butter! Delicious!!
Unfortunately, Grandma and Grandpa didn't really get to sit and enjoy dinner. They had lots and lots to take care of. And a handful of people who wanted to say their last goodbyes!
Great Grandma Patsy came to say goodbye to her daughter!
Sarah and Lizzy!
The Parra's have been very close family friends for a very long time...they really are more like family! They came to say goodbye!
These two are almost brothers! Leo was Grandpa's counselor while he was Bishop. They have been very close ever since!
It's also fun that they have kids similar ages!!
Grandma and KayKay!
Gaby, Mason, Kayla, and Cameron all took turns spinning each other on Grandma's chair. It was lots of fun to watch, and even more fun to hear their squeals of delight!
Josh had some good bonding time with Kenzie!
While Grandma and Grandpa got their first look at the list of missionaries who would be joining their mission!
Making faces!
Beautiful girl!
Thursday was Grandma's birthday!! She is either turning 35 or 53!! Of course we had to celebrate!!
Singing "Happy Birthday!"
He is going to miss her!
Josh and Kelly
About 10:30pm Kayla had spent her last drop of energy and passed out on the chair!
Gaby found a less comfortable spot!
Although it was getting late, nobody wanted to leave. So we just hung out!
And watched Grandma pack!
Surprisingly, Kenzie didn't fall asleep. And although you could tell she was exhausted...she was pretty happy! By 1:00am she was only 1 of 2 kids who was still awake...
Not Kayla,
Not Cameron,
Not Mason,
Not Gaby,
Not Tyler,
(and not Grace and Kate who were tucked away in Sarah's bed.)
Just Kenzie....
...and Aaron!
About 1:00 we carried all the kids to the car. We decided we better go get a little sleep because we would be heading to the airport in five short hours...
Cameron took this picture. I think it's a pretty dang cute one!!
We sure do love these two!! It is going to be so hard to be without them!! Luckily, we all know, without a doubt in our minds, that this is what Heavenly Father wants them to do! We know we will all be blessed for their service and sacrifice! And we all know..even though three years seems long...it won't last forever!!
